13th Sending [Video]
[Oh boy... snowfall. Talia is as much a fan of the winter weather as many of the other Keep residents; even after being snowed into a Waystation for several weeks.]
As much as i enjoy the winter weather, I might advise caution to anyone seeking to visit the lake. The last time we had weather of this nature, it was not as frozen as it appeared to be and lives were lost.
Also, please mind the giant squid...

[No, really. The drowning was bad enough, but to find out the squid had played with her like an oversized doll afterwards had taken the cake. No, she couldn't say what the creature had been thinking, but the experience had been horrid as a whole.]
[audio]
You're being over-sensitive, unless you happened to drown in said tea?
[audio]
As it is, the response is unexpected and Talia actually chuckles.]
No, I daresay I was not drown in said tea... clearly I am seeing this the wrong way.
[audio]
[Pause. Not silver lining; NEVER silver lining.]
...positive side of things.
Negativity is only good if you want to prematurely grey.
[audio]
Talia, for her part, has a bit of a dry tone as she replies.]
Well, I suppose the fact that my death held no permanance is a matter of consideration.
[audio]
That's a start!
No permanent damage done?
[audio]
No, nothing so far as can be found... I would rather not press my luck and put this to a test by repeated deaths, mind you.

It's Ezra, yes? [She doesn't look or sound angry as she speaks, because in her mind the entire ordeal was a shitty accident.]
It is sentient and intelligent, although I've learned most of this second hand. I do not believe it necessarily has bad intentions, but I've truthfully not taken the time to try to find out. I've avoided the lake since drowning in it two months ago and having my body used as a tea time accessory.
[Seriously, Mr. Squid, wtf?]
Well, it's not like it was the squid that drowned you, right? ...Unless you just drowned yourself before it got the chance to. Hmm.
[Ezra looks thoughtful. If that was the case, that might be a problem. After a second, he perks back up.]
But if it's sentient, then it's probably fine. It should be way easier to talk to than a regular squid.
Well, it's possible it would have done it on its own, but without knowing for certain, I will not place such blame on it. The drowning was completely out of it's doing... [She won't blame the squid when it hadn't officially drowned her... only played with her corpse.
She looks rather interested when he mentions speaking to it, though.]
You can speak with it, Ezra?
Probably, unless things are different here.
Well that could certainly come in handy... Mind you use just a touch of caution until you know that you can and that he is will to listen.
[No, she's not your mother, but damnit, she's really tired of senseless death and dismemberment. T^T ]
Not in the water, at least.
I am glad of it... with luck we shall hopeful extend that to out of water as well.
[Let's keep you alive, Ezra, dear.]
[audio]
[There is definite unease in Chloe's tone as she remembers that day.]
How are you, Talia? Anything new?
[video] etc etc etc
[Though she is grateful she was not played with until she'd already died, who knew if the squid would be so kind in the future... She exhales softly, offering Chloe a slight smile.]
I am fair, Chloe... tired due to my own actions and choices, but otherwise well enough. How are you?
I'm as well as can be expected. I feel powerless here, though. If I had my normal abilities, we'd all be home by now.

[Somebody doesn't sound happy.....]
There was an unexpected snowfall about two months ago... a fellow Keep resident got himself into a bit of a spot on the lake when his boat became frozen in the middle of it. He tried to leave, but the ice around his boat was too fragile and wouldn't hold his weight... I went out onto the ice to help. [She pauses here to swallow tightly, hands chafing over her arms.]
I got Jack free from his boat, but the ice was unstable and cracked under his weight. I got him out of the water, but was not as lucky as he... I couldn't find the opening in the ice and was blocked by the bottom of the damned boat...
[Don't make her say what happened, Logan... she might be alive again, but drowning had been one of the most terrifying experiences in her life. She'd not been so aware of her own mortality in a long, long time. She exhales, though this time there is a shakiness that she has to breathe through.]
My body then became a toy for the giant squid that lives in the lake... I know those events only second hand, thankfully...
[Cause she was, you know, dead and all. :(]
But Jack made I safely back to shore, so it was not in vain... no one was harmed and I would do the same again if need be.
[A Herald's life before anyone else; such was the life of the Gifted protectors of Valdemar.]
[audio]
Logan is quiet for a moment, before he bites down on is cigar, a little harder than he meant to.]
Well you're all right now?
[That's all that matters....Right?
MaybeRight.][Video]
As to blaming poor Jack, well that wasn't terribly fair, but it wasn't like Talia knew he was saddling the poor pirate with the blame.
Oh, and be nice to the cigar... you'll havet o roll your own if you keep biting them in half, Logan.
She makes a small sound, but nods.]
There were no lasting effects, no... [Besides the nightmares, that is. The nightmares were a total bitch, but that happened when one was conscious of the fact that they were drowning and there wasn't a damned thing they could do about it.]
And it is certainly far from the worst thing to happen to me...
[Was that scary and enigmatic enough for you, Logan?]
[Sealed to Talia]
Or at least stay away from any damn pirates...
Haven't seen you. You doing all right?
[Sealed to the gallant hubby troll forever]
The fact that she didn't know about Vie, Dos and Jack was a small damned miracle only hidden by the fact that your emotions are so damnable swirly right now. She was going to have such a mixture of emotions when all of that came out. For now, though, she only knows about Logan...
At his quip, unexpected though it is, she smiles slightly. She's glad to hear from you, Kevas, even if you're still in the more of blaming she and Nel for all of this. You're her husband and she loves you dearly...]
T'was not Jack's fault, beloved... the same situation could have happened to any of those here and I don't hold him responsible.
[Her expression is easy and she nods to the last without comment.]
As well as can be right now, my heart... I am sorry you feel the need to avoid me so entirely. [There is a brief pause, and then without any anger or blame she continues. She is, honestly, uncertain how she feels about what she found out.] You fought Logan... [It's not really a question, but is left open for him to explain if he's willing.]
[Sealed to the brilliant wifey herald forever]
Kevas remains silent for a moment. Either she doesn't know what he's done or she's the most patient woman ever. More than likely it's the first one. He doesn't know whether he should tell her or not. She'll find out eventually, and probably in the worst way possible. It feels like no matter what he does he's betraying her trust.]
Yeah...
[That won't keep him from blaming the pirate but that's not what he cares about right now.]
We did, but I can't really remember what it was over.
[Everything has been a bit of a blur. He remembers doing it just not the reason for it.]
And I...uh...
[More silence.]
I'm going to be gone for a bit longer I think.
[If he can tell Aht then he can tell her.]
Awww, shucks, you!
It was all a conundrum when one was being done to help prevent further violence. What a mess, eh?
At his response she offers a soft sigh, knowing well by now that she cannot force an opinion on the troll unless it is his own (unless it was quitting booze, then shit was being forced, yo). She knew perfectly well that Kevas had now red quadrant feelings toward Jack.
That didn't make her regret that the poor pirate had to pay the price for her husbands' misguided anger (if she only KNEW).
She might ask him more about his quarrel with Logan, as she was perfectly aware it had been over liquor, but he moves to steadily shift the conversation from it. His last words draw her brows together and she straightens a bit.
She won't ask him how much longer he'll be, because she feels that he needs the time away from people to avoid doing anything regrettable (LOL), but that doesn't mean she doesn't miss him.]
Do you need anything, Kevas?
[Besides liquor, cause they both knew that wasn't going to happen.]
I just tell it hows I sees it
Yeah, I want you to promise me that no matter what happens you won't do anything foolish.
[That's not foreboding at all now is it?]
FFFFFFFffffffffff
However, all stops come to a screeching halt at his request. Really, was that the sort of warning one gave their wife when they actually wanted them to keep out of things?
Talia might not know the specifics yet, but she suddenly knows that it is a lot more than getting into a round of fisticuffs with Logan over alcohol. She exhales slowly, swallowing down the growing sense of dread settling into her stomach.]
Will there be need of such a promise as that, beloved?
83
This is no warning. This a plea. He knows his family and he knows they can be just a stubborn as he is. Kevas doesn't want them throwing themselves to their deaths just because he's a fool. It won't help anything or anyone.]
Please Talia, just promise me.
<333
She is silent for several moments, and in that time she knows that far worse has happened than her husband has let her in on. That tone...]
Oh, Kevas...
[You knew damn well how hard that is going to be for her, Kevas... As hard as it ever was for you and more...]
Havens help me...
[Her tone is hushed and strained, but finally...]
I promise.
[That did not mean she would not be right there to do what needed to be done during said punishment that was likely to be following. She could take another's emotions and she'd damne well do what she could to ease his pain... if she were capable of helping at all.]
<333
Kevas breathes a sigh of relief when she finally speaks the promise.]
Thank you.
[Of course he knows how hard this will be, after all he watched the Headsman kill Nel while he could do nothing to stop it. He'll not let there be a repeat performance of that though. If things were going to be hard then there's no reason to make them any harder for everyone involved.]
I'm sorry Talia, but I won't see you hurt because I'm a fool.
[Well, hurt more than he's sure she already is.]

Her voice is calm despite the intense fear and concern bubbling below her shields.]
I'd rather not see you hurt at all, love... just... be safe.
[Whatever had happened, there was no undoing it now. There was only moving forward and trying not to repeat the same mistakes.]

[He won't lie to her. Things are going to get bad for him but it's not like he doesn't deserve it. Once this is over he'll work to make up for all of this. It won't be easy but anything worth doing is never easy.]
