[Talia's voice is clear as it comes over the journals.]

For those that need to be aware, I am outside the containment of the barracks. I have shown no sign of infection thus far, but it is certainly a possibility as we have already begun to find.

If you have need of assitance, in any manner, please do not hesitate to inform me. I am not skilled in physical healing, but I can heal the mind or bring comfort to any that might be suffering the effects of this virus. [Hallucinations/Delusions, etc.]

[She is also packing quite the arsonal: her crossbow and wrist guard full of bolts, a pair of scimitars identical to Kevas' own strapped to her hips and a series of throwing knives secured in her boots.]

I could not sit idly by, my love. [A smile touches her tone.] Although if I know you at all, I would be greatly amiss to think you remain in the barracks either, yes?

[He would have to be an idiot to think she wasn't going to try to help. That doesn't mean he's not worried out of his mind.]

[That sounds more like plea than anything else. He lost her only a short time ago. Now he just lost Aht. Kevas can't lose her again, or anyone else.]

Can't just leave everyone out there to fend for themselves. They need help.

[He still needs to find Rapunzel, and others from the Elegante.]

[She would never have expected Kevas to remain in quarantine simply because it had been recommended. He was upset about Aht and there were too many others to keep track of outside the safety zone. Her voice is calm and determined when she replies.]

I shall show the utmost care, but I expect you to do the same unless there is no other option. [You know .. like random dragons showing up. Hard to be careful under those circumstances. :(]

[Her voice is calm, but warm as Remy's voice greets her.]

[The Herald had no intention to be stupidly heroic, but she would do what she could to save anyone possible; and lay those she could not help to a quick rest.]

[She wants to say more, but doesn't.]

[His advice is meant in the best way possible. It just seems to be those of a bent upon doing good, end up doing things that completely go against all survival. Like rescuing drunken pirates that were left upon thin ice, eh?]

[Talia's eyes skim the words as they appear and she frowns softly.]

Chloe, is there anything I can do?

[You don't have to say more, Chloe .. the fact that your response is so vague is enough to concern her.]

[A soft sigh of relief.]

[She's silent a moment, then changes the subject.]

H-How are you and Kevas?

[Yes, it was rather a hard thing to live by, but it was in the job description, so what can ya do?

She smiles a bit wryly at his response.]

Nothing incredibly stupid I can at least try for .. remotely stupid is more likely.

[There is indeed, but Talia will kill for friendship .. or at least sock you firmly in the head.]

[Talia does not like that answer, young lady. :| She also knows a subject change when one is thrown at her. God knows, she's used enough of them in the past.]

We are both outside the barracks, doing whatever we can ..

[A beat of silence.]

If you need me, Chloe .. [She leaves the offer open.]

[Chloe could weep, she's so thankful by that second offer. She was feeling sick and miserable enough as it was--worrying over Derek only amplified it.]

[There was a catch in her voice.]

You too. [She coughs quite a bit here, though she tries to stifle it.] I-if you need anything, let me know.

[Well at least she didn't try to assure him that she wasn't going to do anything insane. He's on to you Keep women. You're all utterly mad.]

That's all I can ask for then I suppose.

[Oh. That. He's used to that. It can be rather effective even!]

[Even if she had assured him falsely like that, he's seen her in action enough to have reasonable doubt.]

I will try the best I can .. but the safety of others comes before my own.

[Hell, Kevas was the same way, but he loved her and he worried as much as she did for him.

[Talia more than understands worrying over a loved one and has done more than her fair share of it in her lifetime.]

[She heard that cough, Chloe .. She heard it and it alarmed her no small amount. :(]

[It's a moment before he responds. He's staring at the journal wondering what trap it is that's been laid for being sealed to him.

He decides he is not willing to anger the green- man by responding in kind.]

[Talia notes the lack of a seal and rolls her eyes heavenward. There were times being Kevas' wife .. She unseals her next response so everything's just right out in the open. Her words are not biting, simply matter of fact; in fact, she just sounds tired. Can't change what's been done ..]

That fact is one I know all too well .. It's not always been as simple as dying and returning a few days later, Captain.

[Life only worked that way here; and on the Elegante. She'd seen Kris killed right before her, hadn't she? And his Companion alongside .. Neither of them had been brought back. None that they'd lost during the betrayal had been brought back.

And yes .. perhaps just a little.]

[Her words bring to bear his own mortality. He's staring at it right now and wondering if the dice really will roll twice for him here, or if this will be the end of it all.]

No, it never was.

[He's been on either side of the track with that. Taking and having it taken from him. Spending most of his life, avoiding death, gives one a rather bleak perspective on the whole activity.]
